Modern, minimal homeware inspired by nature
Bonjour from Paris, home of pale-stoned boulevards, Mona Lisa’s smile, café crème and haute couture fashion.
For me, this city is Coco Chanel. It is Charlotte Gainsbourg trailing Gitane smoke. It is cobble stones in the Marais and the shadow of Notre Dame. It is red awnings and red wine and red germaniums hanging from ornate balconies. It is the Basilica Sacre Coeur on Montmartre at night, glowing with the light of hundreds of candles. It is a million romances – and a million more beautiful things beyond.
If this reads a little like a love letter to the French capital, that’s because it is. This city has influenced my career immeasurably: it is quite simply an endless well of inspiration.
In Paris, I am most at home on the Left Bank in the Latin Quarter. Here, I feel that I’m, if not coming home, then immediately comfortable. This is where I’ll find the galleries and showrooms of interior designers who have shaped my thinking, my taste and my craft including Christian Liaigre and Bruno Moinard. Wandering with nothing to do but look is a special sort of indulgence.
My latest fabric collections – Mohair, Wool Satin and Tisse – are something of an ode to Paris, specifically the city’s design heritage. They capture the Paris I love: the Boucle on a classic Chanel jacket, the honey-coloured limestone façades of the famous Hausmannian apartments and the sunlight sheen on the Louvre pyramids.
The palette for all three is both light and bright – with ivories and creams as well as contrasting hues in deeper shades of nuts and biscuits. The Mohair collection is inherent so it is perfect for upholstery and particularly useful for hospitality projects.
It was important to me that, like all my fabrics, this new collection would complement all of my other fabrics and that, despite being inspired by a city, each can work beautifully in a rural setting.
These feel like really grown-up collections that echo the aesthetic heritage of Paris perfectly – and capture a chic little slice of the elegance and grandeur. I can’t wait to share them with you.
